Sanitarium has a team of qualified nutritionists and dietitians who work together as the Sanitarium Nutrition Service. Our sole purpose is to help people enjoy healthy foods and the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
Sanitarium's involvement with nutrition education began in the early 1900's with the Sanitarium Vegetarian Cafés. These included cooking classes and nutrition lectures and were set up in all capital cities and many country areas of New Zealand and Australia. Later, Sanitarium began sharing its education services through a chain of retail health food shops.
In 1987, due to growing community interest in nutrition, and to help offset the many contradictory nutrition claims in the media, Sanitarium established the Nutrition Education Service (NES) in order to provide the community with reliable, easy-to-understand nutrition information.
During 2002, Sanitarium's nutrition department was given a new direction, which ensured the services provided could broaden in the future. At this time the service changed it's name from the Nutrition Education Service, to the Sanitarium Nutrition Service - Healthy For Life. The name change helps to illustrate that Sanitarium believes that that good nutrition, along with physical, mental and spiritual health are important in delivering an overall balanced, healthy lifestyle.
We look forward to hearing from you.
