Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing Company aims to help people in our communities to experience happy, healthy living. We produce a range of plant-based health food products suitable for people who are seeking foods to help them enjoy good health.

Sanitarium products, in particular the Vegie Delights range of vegetarian foods, produced for the domestic and export markets, have both Halal and Kosher certification. The Halal and Kosher symbols convey to consumers that the product conforms to certain material sourcing and manufacturing practices suitable for the choices they make about their life and health. In obtaining the certification there was no need to change our manufacturing processes as our foods have a natural fit with the Halal and Kosher requirements.

Both Halal and Kosher certifications are independent qualifications for product information purposes. The certification costs are borne entirely by Sanitarium. The use of the certification symbols attracts a small flat fee to cover direct inspection and certification costs. The costs are in line with other direct certification costs that Sanitarium incurs, for example the annual costs for Australian retailer quality and food safety certification.

The Halal and Kosher symbols are not royalty-based symbols. There is no siphoning of royalties from product sales.

The Halal Certification Authority of Australia is Sanitarium’s Halal certification body. It is recognised and approved by the Federal Government’s Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service.
