In an Australian first, Sanctuary Health & Wellbeing Village, from Sanitarium, will officially open in Pyrmont today (September 6, 2010), offering the local community the very best in “whole person” healthcare.
Located at 7 Harris St, overlooking Pirrama Community Park, the new wellbeing centre provides services in conventional medicine and complementary therapies, bringing together integrated, evidence-based practice of the highest standard.
Sanctuary offers general practitioners, dietitians, naturopaths, counsellors, psychologists, healthy living seminars, cooking classes, massage, skin health, and movement and exercise coaching, all under the one roof.
Sanctuary Group Manager Ms Brenda Rea said the team was thrilled to be celebrating the opening of the very first Sanctuary.
“The centre at Pyrmont is the first of many planned nationally and represents the Sanitarium brand’s commitment to health and wellbeing,” Ms Rea said.
“In shaping the local Sanctuary offer, we’ve received wonderful community feedback and really look forward to continuing to work with residents to ensure Sanctuary meets their wellbeing needs and becomes a hub for healthy living.
“It’s clear people want health services that genuinely care for them as people and help them feel better body, mind, heart and spirit. Sanctuary answers this desire and offers health services that treat clients as a whole person, combining the best of conventional and complementary health therapies.”
A unique feature of Sanctuary is the health coach who will work in partnership with clients to:
- help define people’s health and wellbeing goals;
- assess their motivators and barriers to achieving those goals;
- work with them to access the services they need; and
- offer a constant point-of-contact and support that enables people to effectively meet their goals.
In addition to the team of health professionals, Sanctuary will also host seminars from world-renowned experts sharing their knowledge in healthy living.
The first seminar to be hosted at Sanctuary is with international best-selling author Dan Beuttner on the secrets to living longer - “Live Longer, Younger, Better”, on September 27. Other seminars in coming months include “5 Secrets for Feeling Fantastic”, “The Fertility Diet”, “Weeknight Meals in 15 Minutes”, “Executive Athletes”, “Living with Diabetes but Symptom Free” and “Immunity Super Foods”.
Free Health Checks
To celebrate it’s opening, Sanctuary will be offering free 15 minute health checks to local residents, giving them the opportunity to experience Sanctuary’s unique offer first hand. This will include an assessment of health and wellbeing (including blood pressure and BMI), sleep, diet, exercise and mental wellbeing.
Community Open Day
Another key event in the Sanctuary opening celebrations will be the Community Open Day on Sunday 12 September from 10am to 4pm. Local residents are invited to pop in, enjoy some light refreshments and meet some of the team.
Sanctuary will be open Monday to Friday, as well as Sundays. To make a booking or find out about the free health checks or the Community Open Day please call (02) 9506 0400.
