Get your body moving

Do you feel a little sluggish and less motivated once the cooler weather sets in? Well, there's no better time to contemplate your health and wellbeing. And being active is an essential part of this - for your body, mind, heart and soul. It's also a great way to balance the occasional indulgence we all enjoy.

How much activity?

Aim for a minimum of 30 minutes of moderately intense physical activity on most days of the week. If you find a 30-minute block difficult to achieve, split it up into three 10-minute sessions or two 15-minute sessions. But most importantly, choose an activity you enjoy, as this will help you stick to it.

What kinds of activities?

All activity is good for you, including housework and gardening. While you can achieve significant health benefits with moderately intense physical activity, if you are looking for additional health benefits, try adding some high intensity activity into your week.

For best results, combine an active lifestyle with healthy eating.

Moderately intense physical activity will cause a slight, but noticeable, increase in breathing and heart rate and may cause light perspiration in some people. However, you should still be able to carry on with a conversation. This makes brisk walking with a group of friends or family all the better!!
