We all need to be sure the food we buy is safe to eat, so our food suppliers should have robust safety systems in place all the way from farm to plate.
Sanitarium’s food safety expertise, built up over many years, helps us to ensure that our products are not only of the high quality our customers expect, but also that they are completely safe.
We hold Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification, which means that all of our manufacturing and distribution sites are externally audited every year to check that our food safety program meets legislative, customer and Sanitarium’s own requirements.
Our food safety program is also certified to international standards, using the British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards of Global Standard Food Safety and the Global Standard Storage and Distribution. We have held the BRC Storage and Distribution certification for our distribution centre at Berkeley Vale, NSW, since 2011. We also carry out regular internal audits of our food safety and quality processes.
Sanitarium has actively sought ways to improve the quality and safety of our products since the company began operations in 1898. We have been awarded at the HACCP Food Safety Awards for our dedication to high levels of food safety compliance across complex multi-site operations. A supplier approval process is an integral part of our food safety systems.
