Food pantries a lifeline for those facing adversity

Hunger is a hidden problem in Australia, with as many as five million Australians experiencing food insecurity in the last year, according to the most recent Foodbank Hunger Report.

As part of our long-term commitment to food security, we support a number of food pantries with in-kind Sanitarium foods through a sustainable, model of yearly agreements as part of our longterm commitment to food and nutrition security.

In the 2019/2020 financial year over 156,000 serves of food were provided to food panties, with over 500 people being helped. 

We support various Food Pantries around Australia:

The Bay Food Pantry in Lake Macquarie is committed to fighting against poverty in the community by distributing food to families and individuals who are struggling to put food on their tables.

ADRA Food Pantry Macquarie Fields assists up to 200 people experiencing hardship each week.

Food Blessing Food Pantry Armidale assists up to 60 people each week. The area was especially hard-hit last bushfire season with donations being shared across local fire crews.

The Pantry Club assists over 80 people each week including local schools with emergency relief.

Mount Druitt Food Pantry assists people in need including many families who struggle with everyday life and bills. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 the food pantry saw a 40% increase in demand.

Hay Baptist Community Chest assists the Hay community with household items, clothing, books, toys and food hampers.
