At Sanitarium, we aim to make a real and lasting difference by caring for, supporting and serving our communities. This is why we are partnered with Foodbank Australia, a non-denominational, non-profit organisation that acts as a “pantry” to the charities and community groups supporting needy Australians.
Weet-Bix is one of the charity sector’s most sought-after and trusted brands, due to its high nutritional content, long shelf life, affordability and enviable food safety record. Since 2010, Sanitarium and Foodbank have collaborated to regularly produce Weet-Bix as part of Foodbank’s Collaborative Supply program. This sees manufacturers and suppliers working together to donate or subsidise ingredients and services to produce, process, package and transport essential food items to the charity sector.
Sanitarium, with some of its partners, Orora, Visy and Linfox, produces Weet-Bix to donate to more than 2,500 charities. Involvement of every link in the supply chain, from the primary producer to the manufacturer, means the challenge is shared, creating a sustainable solution to providing essential staple foods.
Our donation of food to people in crisis doubled this year, with our manufacturing team packing 164 pallets of Weet-Bix (previously 82 pallets) as part of the Foodbank Collaborative Pack Agreement. This equated to 1,771,200 serves of food donated to over 2,500 charities across the country.
