We’re proud to partner with Australia’s leading food and grocery relief organisation, Foodbank Australia. In normal times Foodbank provides essential assistance to 815,000 Australians experiencing food insecurity every month.
But these are not normal times! Charities that remained open during COVID-19 report that demand for food relief is up 47% on average since the pandemic started. To address this crisis Foodbank are supplying more food and groceries than ever before.
Foodbank reached three million people last year including communities impacted by the Black Summer bushfires and COVID-19, people suddenly unemployed, seniors in isolation and families struggling across the country.
In addition, they sourced 48.8 million kilograms of food and groceries – a record volume that equates to 87.9 million meals.
No doubt 2021 is set to be another significant year for our partnership, with Foodbank’s research showing that Australia is yet to reach ‘peak hunger’ levels as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
